Worse than they thought
My dad just called. They transferred my grandmother to another hospital. They weren't sure if she'd make it through the transfer. They found a tear in her aortic valve, and there's lots of bleeding. Doctors said this is the same thing that killed John Ritter. It has a 1 in 10 mortality rate, but it's even worse for her because she's older. Complicating things is the fact that she avoided doctors since my grandfather passed away, and she's had high blood pressure and diabetes for years and didn't know it. She'll be in surgery for the next 2 to 6 hours.

while it's not the same, my mom has diabetes and high blood pressure. she had a quintuple heart by-pass four years ago.

i hope your grandmother has the same success that my mother had with her surgery.

Good luck!

I just read this. Thoughts are with you. My mom had to get her aortic valve replaced cause it was bicuspid (deformed). Your grandmother will need lots of love and support to recover from the surgery. Luck to her!
