I just sent an email to the mayor (who won't read it, but maybe someone will get a chuckle). It's brief, but to the point...
To: firstname.lastname@example.org Subj: Master / Slave debacle
Hon. Mayor Hahn:
I will try not to take up any more of your time and waste more tax dollars on what is a ridiculous issue. But I'm infuriated particularly at this comment picked up by Reuters:
Dennis Tafoya, director of the affirmative action office, said in a separate memo that an "exhaustive search" had been undertaken to find all such labels and replace them with more "appropriate" ones. A form was sent to all departments to identify equipment carrying the labels "master" and "slave" or any other offensive terms.
Exhaustive search? Mayor, honestly, considering the state and city's current budget crises, is this really a good use of our city employees' time?
Do you have any authority over these numb skulls?
