The Great Dying of 2007
I couldn't help but notice that during this outage, Twitter was barely responding. MySpace bulletins were totally jacked.

This is what happens when all the angst of the internet that's normally channeled through livejournal has no place to go. But what if xanga had gone down?

my. dear. god.

I shudder to think what would've happened. It very likely could've caused a total meltdown that would've torn the fabric of space and time a new butt hole.

I missed you internets.

Twitter is an SMS/Instant Message based blogging service made available to those who secretley hate their friends and themselves and want to live in a constant state of irritation.

As the name suggests, updates to twitter are supposed to come in short bursts, like dozens of birds chirping in a tree. You can update your twitter using either SMS/phone, IM, or email. Once you do, your message is broadcast to everyone who has friended you on it, via either SMS/phone, IM, or email.

"LOL I am at Denny's and some homeless dude poo'd himself in the parking lot"

"The line for this movie is really long, I'm going to go see TRANSFORMERS instead"

"Who wants some pie? HAY GUYS LETS GO GET SOME PIE"

Needless to say, I am a bit biased against it and am at a loss in finding a value in this kind of service.

OH a spam-your-friends service. That's kind of what I thought it was. Yuck, no thanks.

this application might hold some minor useful usefulness. Maybe.

Although, I'm still not convinced. Seems like an RSS fee via SMS.

yeah, I primarily signed up to figure out what the value was (because I wasn't seeing it).

Still not.

It *could* be useful if there were some way to have it update your status across Facebook, MySpace, AIM, or setup SMS distribution lists for your friends (although most phones already have that feature), etc.

I used it when I was in NY for like 5 minutes. Oh, and then as an emergency backup during the Great LJ Power Outage of 2007.

I have to make the observation that MySpace is not located in SF; more like Santa Monica, so any outage in SF would not've affected MySpace. MySpace was just being, well, MySpace.

si..that's what i meant... LJ was down because their colocation facility was offline, creating more traffic for myspace bulletins (where some users went to post instead), twitter, et.al.
