A sign outside a church I passed today said, "God loves you so much he gave his only child."

This brings up a very important point: Child Protective Services should have removed the Baby Jesus before his dad let him get murdered. I mean, if all this is true, this God fellow shouldn't be revered, His ass should be in jail for criminal neglect or something.

I mean, letting your son get killed to show how much you love someone else is kind of a dickish thing to do. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's been used as the plot for a couple Law & Order: SVU episodes.

I'm just sayin....

I think Jesus was 31 when he was killed. So, yeah, not really an issue for CPS.

he should be facing some murder charges. manslaughter 1st degree bear minimum. i mean, he didnt pull the trigger, but he loaded the gun!

i think we need to get some protesters outside the DA's office demanding God be brought in for questioning.

Of course Jesus was thirty-three at the time of His death and He had some say in the matter, God didn't force Him. It is probably best said and God offered His child, and the child said, "Yes." It is said that offering one's life for those they love is the most noble thing a person can possilby do.

Just saying...

yeah.... i think the scientologists' concept of alien volcanoes is slightly more believable than that whole virgin birth stuff, imho.

I have a little trouble with the virgin birth as well. Technically, the more accurate translation from the Arabic and Greek would have been "maiden," which is not the same thing as "virgin."

i just don't see how God was mary's baby daddy. babies just don't happen from toilet seats or deitic sperm!

much of organized religion, particularly christianity, seems based on misinterpretation. the world would be better off if man used its, perhaps God-given, brains instead of succumbing to superstition.

Maybe you're right. Makes sense.

But mythology, legend and miracles do have their places. I'd rather live in a word with them than without them myself. Call me silly. **shrug** I certainly need logic and facts. But magick has its place.

Maybe the miracle of the holidays touch your life this year!

agreed, down to my socks.

and i am into what Jesus had to say and do. pretty awesome Him embracing lepers, and getting all s/m-mojo with a whip in the temple ;-D

His crucifiction as a symbol of worship is very troublesome to me, tho -- he was hung up there buck naked, for one thing, which no one depicts cuz it's naughty or something (?) -- but His death was truly like a great big SMBD snuff fetish thing. pretty damn Gay, really.

but logic -- especially the logic you are using -- is not supposed to be applied to "faith". i say, if logic cannot be applied to faith then THAT particular brand of faith is probably, for the most, science fiction, and much more about the followers and their superstitions than any "son of God".

have a great holiday!
