i have a 05 GMC that gets 16.7mpg. i'm always crusing the honda website for something new while my trade-in value still amounts to anything.... 85 bucks to fill up is outrageous.

Fortunately, my commute is short.

If gas prices piss you off, you can always get a more fuel-efficient car.

i don't drive enough to really ever get pissed at gas prices. My commute's roughly 8 mi each way, and once I'm home, I generally walk everywhere.

Car's just a lease though, so not keeping it. Lexus is coming out with a hybrid GS, which might work. Although, I may not drive enough to make a hybrid pay off or really do any good.

The GS 450h.

Very nice car. Very very nice car. =)

I like the 400h. As SUVs go, I am a fan.

But the 450h....D...That would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a hybrid GS. That might make up for the front of the car (not a huge fan, but just needs some tweaking).

Not a fan of SUVs though.

You guys don't have enough refineries and therefore import too much of your gasoline.

we're the forth largest oil-producer in the country. The higher cost is generally due to the requirement that our fuel be cleaner burning.

But isn't California the first in consumption or something like that?

To Be Fair
America is now paying roughly the same price as many other countries around the world (like me here in Japan). I didn't start paying attention until I had too much time at work (enough time to figure that I pay about $4.05/gal).

excuse me while I cry tears of gasoline fueled rage...

I've had to self-impose a $30/fill-up.

Wow! A$1.07 (US$0.81) a litre! *shock*

In Australia prices are typically US$4 per gallon at the moment, and it's over US$6.80 in the UK (their *normal* price is about US$5), and when I was in Eastern Europe and Ireland in 2004 a typical price would be about US$4.50-$4.80 a gallon.

Lucky!
And in the UK that would have cost US$ 114.14. Ouch!
