"How about famous Jewish sports legends?"
Today, Ryan managed to drag me to the gym (after a couple weeks of being a total lazy ass and not going). I noticed a rather hot, blonde guy, so I smiled in that ridiculously awkward way I do when I see someone cute, and he smiled back. We continued this coy smiling back and for through several sets until we both sorta moved in each other's direction to say, "Hi."

Ghey GayersonIn case I've not mentioned it lately, I'm horrible at flirting. Seriously, the 49ers have more game than I do. (okay, okay, okay... I looked that up.) Anyway, I got his digits, and hopefully I'll call him and live out the disaster rather than just play it out in my head numerous times before deciding not to call.

After our workout session, Ryan and I went for pedicures. Sure, laugh if you want, but it's flip flop season, and it would have been unfair to unleash my unkempt extremities on small children. Yes, I did it for the kids. Okay, well, maybe the $5 salt massage treatment was for me.

After this nirvana, however, we went to the Sunset 5 for a movie. We just finished watching Gregg Araki's new film, Mysterious Skin. It should come as no surprise that it was disturbing (and contained an alien subplot). However, while Nowhere was Tom-Cruise disturbing, Mysterious Skin was Mel-Gibson-playing-the-role-of-Michael-Jackson's-love-child disturbing.

Seriously. I still feel anxious (and we got out of the film a couple hours ago). I'm not sure how to shake the images, so I think I am just going to try watching something light. If anyone needs me, I'll be sitting fetal in front of the TV, watching the Cartoon Network, rocking back and forth for a little while. Just, disregard the mumbling, and no sudden noises, please.

Got some hairy legs there big guy... It's so funny you mentioned Mysterious Skin, I was just talking to a friend about going to see that movie when it comes to Seattle on the 17th. I'm all for fucked up indie films!

Oh yeah i forgot to comment on the gym guy. Nice work. I am the master at eye flirting (I'm not on the level of the smile flirt but I can sometimes pull off the cute nervous laugh flirt). But way to have some balls and to actually talk to the guy dude, whats your secret :-)

Hmm... odd movie. Hope things go well with the gym boy. I bet you're better at firting than you think. I mean for me I like the guys who are more natural about it, not the ones who know how to use it and show it, because it's more natural and to me so long as you're a good person (or at least somewhat lol) it'll show through.

okay, i totally understand about the anxiety of watching disturbing movies. i watched "sleepers" with a friend several years back and i still can't watch any movie with any of the actors in that movie. *shudder*

Mysterious Skin disturbed me too. I'm not too easily disturbed...a movie has to really touch something that resonates in me to get under my skin, but this one did it. I felt kinda haunted upon leaving the theater and had to go home instead of do more shopping, but in the end I decided I really liked it and want to see it again.

yeah, I liked the film. I'd definitely say it's a good movie, but damn! Everyone seemed to have the same look on his face when he left the theater. It was just a look of "whoa!" I totally know what you mean about needing to go home. It's exactly how I felt.

I held my napkin in front of my face through parts of the movie. I don't know if I can sit through seeing it again though!

Yeah I saw the movie alone. I felt kind of dirty, sitting there by myself.

I can't wait to see it again...I suppose it's for the same reason people go on rollercoasters. Haha. I will have to find someone to drag along this time, though...because I don't want to be the perv who sees this movie by himself twice.

heh interesting. i was anxious to see his new film in any case, but now especially. sounds like he's really honed and focused his "voice" as the review in the NYTimes said a few weeks ago, comparing his new "maturity" with that of Pedro Almodovar....

Mysterious Skin did remind me a bit of Almodovar's Bad Education, for obvious reasons...though there are some distinct differences. I haven't seen Araki's other movies, because everyone says they were terrible...but it'll be interesting to see what he does next.

Awkward flirters are just too cute. Wish I could say it happened to me, but I seem to get the eye from all the wrong guys ::shrug:: What can you do right?
