Powdered Doughnut Pancake Surprise
It's not very often I find myself on the 118, but there I was actually cruising the Ronald Reagan Freeway at the butt crack of dawn on a Saturday morning. Well, it was 8 am, so probably more like the frenulum of dawn rather than the butt-crack, but you get the idea.

So what would possess me to voluntarily be up before noon on a Saturday, driving deep, deep in the valley? Those two magic words that bring tears to the eyes of any compulsive shopper:

"at cost"

Well, 10% above cost to be exact, but thanks to Seth's mom, who knows a manager at Best Buy in Chatsworth, I was invited to go with them to the store's "Friends and Family" discount day. Now, this wasn't your typical Friends and Family-please don't forward this coupon to 1,000 of your closest friends *wink* *wink* sale. Evidentally, you actually did have to know someone, and they had to put your name on their list. But true to the claim, everything in the store was for sale at 10% above their cost. I was pretty stoked.

Since little things such as cables are marked up about, oh, 1,000%, I loaded up on ethernet cables. Then I got those Sony in ear buds I've been wanting, and these Philips noise-cancelling headphones, and got a sweet new printer (HP 2510). I did, however, manage to talk myself down from the new video card, whereupon my credit card breathed a sigh of relief.

Who needs a boyfriend when you have guilt-free shopping?

I was really worried how I'd control myself when I showed up. But it wasn't hard. Most of the big ticket items have a very low to 0 markup, and if there wasn't a real savings, I wasn't interested since I could go back anytime for that price (or get it online). Computers, projectors, and speakers all had like no markup. So I didn't spend that much at all. The printer was the most expensive item. The headphones, cables, etc were sooo cheap!

Your boyfriend, of course. Boyfriends need discounts too!

lol, here here!
hahaha ;)

I use Sony in-ear buds too (ex71?), they sound better than pretty much anything else that I've used for a reasonable price. Mine have a funky cord set up though, which sometimes get to be annoying since the right side swoops across from the left.

Re: lol, here here!
these are the ex51s... I didn't see the 71s there, but it looks as if the only diff is rubber shell vs. plastic shell, but the site's not really clear! these things rock though. The bass is amazing!!

All Sony headphones seem to come with that new cord setup now. I hated it at first when I bought my last set to replace my old Sony's that were falling apart. But, I got used to it and like it much better now. I think it's because I usually run the cord under my shirt. With the new design, I can just run it down my left side (instead of down my front like I used to) and straight into my left pocket where my mp3 player is. Then the cord from the left to right earbud just goes behind my neck. It works surprisingly well for me now!

Yes, they are! I haven't shopped there since their manager refused to price match a price listed on their own damn website. But at cost+10%, I couldn't pass it up. Plus, I really wanted to learn what their markup on all the stuff was!

sigh...when i used to work at circuit city (where service is state of the art *ironic grin*) we got to buy things at cost. i miss those days where i could get electronics whenever i wanted to. i was the most popular kid in my dorm freshman year with my entertainment system. but now those days are gone. and i have to pay *shudders* retail...

You didn't get any music or dvds?

The mark up didn't seem to be very high on those. I have the perfect site for DVDs anyway. So, yeah, I avoided that section... which is good. There was no time!

DeepDiscountDVD.com

They're prices on individual movies are pretty amazing—not as much of a deal on the compilations, but everything else (plus no shipping)!
